The Corporate Photographer Is A Historian, Too
A historian is one who writes history. In the case of the corporate photographer, he or she writes the history of a company. The only difference is, while a historian uses prose, the corporate photographer records history via photos he or she has taken.
The corporate photographer is a valuable part of any corporate entity, if such an entity values tradition and history. Sadly though, the corporate photographer is rarely lauded for his or her silent, but steady presence in the company. After all, if there’s one person who is a must at all official functions of a corporation, it is none other than the corporate photographer!
Yes, the corporate photographer is the “very important guest” during all the important occasions or milestones marked by a company. He or she takes photos of scenes, both good and bad, happy or sad. What is fascinating is that the corporate photographer is able to capture moments, many even personal, such as the look of triumph on one who has just been promoted, or someone just cited for exceptional work. Snapshots of unguarded, amusing moments are also frozen in time, for posterity. The frames are frozen too, by the corporate photographer, for those truly momentous official occasions like a progressive deal, a profitable venture, etc.
It is through the indefatigable efforts of the corporate photographer that the company is able to, at the end of each year and into the next, create a stirring prose of all the highlights of a company’s year. These, often called annual reports or performance highlights, become more vivid as the photos taken by the corporate photographer share center stage with sophisticated narrative. Wherever and whenever the company or corporation feels the need to look back and see what has been, it is the work of the corporate photographer that is being brought out. The colorful representations of a company’s past, whether the color of success be imagined or real, is made alive by the corporate photographer through his or her photos.
